Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you pay TITHE of MINT and ANISE and CUMMIN, and have omitted the weightier matters of the Law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought you to have done, and not to leave the other undone. (Matthew 23:23)
Matthew 23:23 Facts:
(1) When Jesus spoke this, the Old Testament was still in force.
(2) Jesus was talking to Pharisees under THE LAW OF MOSES, not to Gentiles.
(3) Tithing here was NOT MONEY, it was something that grew from the earth.
(4) Jesus did NOT teach that tithing was mandatory under the New Testament.
If only people understood that the New Testament teaches GIVING (without any mention of a percentage), and that when you GIVE finances it belongs to the entire Church, and not just for the ministry, I believe people would become better GIVERS.
Everyone transgressing and not abiding in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. The one abiding in the doctrine of Christ, this one has the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bear this doctrine, do not receive him into the house, and do not speak a greeting to him.
