I created this portion of the blog for visitors and viewers to ask any question concerning faith, order, doctrine, and practice of the New Covenant Church. I want to cover questions from the Book of Genesis all the way to the Book of Revelation. I am not afraid to deal with questions concerning the Law of Moses, and how the carnal ordinances have been abolished but the way in which it is has been administered has changed in a new and living way. Grace to you Brother! I have a question regarding cursed objects and having them in your home. What are the spiritual dangers of having such objects in our homes, can we unknowingly leave an open door for Satan and his hoard simply by having these cursed objects? Say like movies, music, and souvenirs. souvenirs because my dad-who is not Christian- brought an aztec/mayan mask from mexico. Your help is appreciated! God bless you.
Praise God! You are in a situation of someone that is saved living in the house of unbelieving parents. To begin, according to Scripture, sister you can win your parents over to the truth without even saying a word.
In this passage the apostle was explaining how an obedient wife can win over a disobedient husband without words, but by her godly behavior coupled with respect. Your godly example of the how a believer is reverence God in the home will provoke them to question why you are different. Don’t be rude to your parents, but be an example. Since you are living in your parent’s house, what you want to do is let your room be a holy example of how the rest of the house ought to be in the sight of God.
The spiritual danger is more with your parents than it is with you if you reject all forms of modern day idolatry. We believe there is only ONE GOD, but not everyone believes in one God otherwise they would hate idols. In your father’s mind he does not see any harm in Aztec/Mayan masks because his conscience is weak. They way you react to cursed object such as the Aztec/Mayan mask is going to convict his conscience. Sister, you might be the only thing that will get his conscience to be convicted of wrong just by rejecting and exalting the Most High above the mask. You can do that without saying a word. I am not saying that you can’t say anything, but you can win him over with few words, and without rebuking him. Just stand your ground about why YOU can’t accept anything that will not honor YOUR God that YOU are in a covenant with.
As touching movies, music, souvenirs, I will break each down in sections.
MOVIES: Refrain from all movies that are contrary to the doctrine of God. As saints of God we ought not take pleasure in the things that the Ministry preach against. The majority of movies are filled with profanity, violence, nakedness, fornication, adultery, drugs, alcohol, witchcraft, magic, and everything that contradicts the will of God. Even the so-called Christian Bible movies are corrupt because they add and take away from the Scriptures, and paint a false picture of what really happened on many biblical accounts. Nowadays people just want to be entertained by everything else besides the Holy Scriptures. Why not just stick to the Scriptures? It has everything we are looking for: action, drama, suspense, comedy, love, and the best part about it…everything found within the pages of Scriptures is true and not cunningly devised fables. Too many people are turning to modern day idols such as movies based on cartoon & comic book characters (X-Men, Spider Man, Transformers, Incredible Hulk, etc).
MUSIC: Even the music we listen to must be holy (set apart). The music we listen to must be free from any compromise such as Rap, Hip-hop, Rock, or any other form of worldly music. When God saves us, He even saves us from the ungodly music artists we used to listen to. Music plays a huge role in peoples lives, especially young people. Many music artists become idols, and role models to their faithful listeners. Often times people end up dressing, and acting like the artist. We must use discernment in the music we listen & sing unto our God with, and keep it holy.
SOUVENIRS: According to the dictionary, souvenirs are reminders. Reminders are not a sin in and of itself. Although reminders can be a sin if it reminds you of the wrong thing. When it comes to images, statues, or instruments used in religious cultures such as Aztec or Mayan those are not good reminders. Those are reminders of the false religions of Mexico. Many people are captured by the artwork of Mexico, but they have no clue about the history behind the artwork, and the evil that it represents. All nations must be willing to forsake graven images, even in their own culture that has a connection with false worship.
Keep your room blameless in these areas, lead by example, honor YOUR God, and your parents can be won over to the truth. I pray this can be of any help.
